Our story begins in 1911, when Valentin Tramontina, the son of Italian immigrants, founded a small blacksmith's workshop with his wife in the small town of Carlos Barbosa in the southernmost Brazilian state of RioGrande do Sul.
He soon made a name for himself for high-quality and durable knives.
The small family business flourished and, over the course of a good century, developed into an internationally active group of companies with a total of 8 factories throughout Brazil, its own stores, distribution and subsidiary companies around the globe and well over 10,000 employees.
